Thanks!!! School just started today up here. People in my office were complaining about getting stuck behind buses.

My training is going great. I'm inspired by Ninja Warrior on G4. I've been working on my grip. Hopefully, in the near future, I'll be able to do a pull up on the 1/4" trim around my bathroom door. Currently my fingers don't have the dexterity to even hang from the framing, but I'm getting close.

Good luck on your runs! When's your next event? (5k 10k?)

Okay, so school is making it more challenging to run, but!!! I am keeping up now. I had a fantastic morning run, so from now on, I will run on my regularly scheduled days, unless there's torrential rain or a hurricane.

my wife and i actually went running yesterday. i'd forgotten how much fun it is. it sounds like she's looking forward to making it a daily activity, but she's very sore today, hehe. i've lost a few pounds over the last two weeks. that's not heading in the direction of my goal, but i've pretty much left the weight goal behind and started to focus on fitness goals.

everything is great. i hope everythings stays well with you. i like your blog. i check it every now and then.

I'm liking the new distance, but the evening runs will be a challenge, especially while the humidity is so high. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

hopefully you'll get good students. that's always a plus.

So, I did the longer route today (7.27 miles up from 6.38) and it wasn't that bad. I maintained a decent pace, although I had to walk a bit due to the hellish humidity. But, I did the distance, running about 95% of the way. Next time, I will try to jog instead of walk when I need to slow down. I now know the route, and it's a nice change from what I've been doing. So, the day has started out well!

just checking in. why no training on the 8th or 9th?

how's the running been going? are you finding the extra distance difficult or is easier than you thought it would be?

I'm here for you, buddy. Kick it into gear! Lose those couple pounds and bump up your mileage and let me know how it's going. I just bought a new pair of running shoes. Totally psyched me up to run more. Maybe that would get you even more psyched to buy something new... shoes or whatever.

You can do it!!! If you get into your routine right off the bat, then the rest of the school year will fall into place. It looks like you're increasing your mileage by about 3/4-miles, right? You could easily tack that onto your afternoon run. At the pace you run, that's less than 10 minutes more. I guess my simple mind is thinking, "start 5 minutes earlier and end 5 minutes later." Very very doable.

Okay, people, I need your support. Post-vacation, I am looking at having gained a few pounds (but still in my 33's!). I want to kick it into gear with school starting, so I hope you'll all be there for me (as I will be there for you!)

12th grade AP english!! that's pretty cool. i remember completely slacking off in that class. senioritis. i don't think i learned anything in that class, other than how to get by on doing the minimum. i wish i hadn't done that. that's the only AP exam I didn't pass.

The only hard part I'm having now are people are saying that i'm "too thin", it's like.. excuse my language, but **** off! I've worked so hard to get to this point. (and really I'm not 'too thin', right now I'm 175 at 5'10") Lord have mercy =P

here's a simple introduction to HIIT. it probably doesn't have anything you haven't learned already about it, but it might be something you'll want to pass on to others:

http://www.teenbodybuilding.com/justin6.htm

i like this article on HIIT:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/wotw40.htm

there's a part in there that has a general nutritional guideline for athletes who are "cutting." it's followed by a suggested split, that incorporates HIIT as a way of reducing body fat.

I just bought some 25 lb. weights (dumbbells) so I can work on my upper body. Running has been amazing, but my musculature needs some toning.

Right now, I'm at 34" waist. Haven't been there in a long time... was 38" in March. So, things are looking good right now.
